Scotties Finish Out Season at NCAA Regionals

ROME, Ga.—Agnes Scott Cross Country saw its season come to a conclusion on Saturday morning after competing in the NCAA Division III South Regional race at Berry College. Senior Allyssa Willis (Apache Junction, Ariz.) was the top finisher for the Scotties in 178th place.

The Scotties sent their top seven competitors over the course of the season to compete in a stacked regional lineup that includes several nationally ranked programs. Willis trotted to a 28:40.3 mark, which earned the Scotties 159 points to their team score. Classmate Ellie Vergura (Atlanta, Ga.) was the second Scottie to cross the end line in 189th overall with a finish of 29:10.3.

Kaylah Edwards (Lilburn, Ga.) matched a career best with a 29:31 final time to come in 196th, while Catherine Ortega was just a few spots behind Edwards in 203rd.

Hannah Brendell (Windhoek, Namibia), Avery Moore (Mariposa, Calif.) and Isabelle Eiden (Chicago, Ill.) rounded out the rest of the finishers for Agnes Scott.

The Scotties finished 31st overall as a team despite having a better total time and timed average of the three teams directly ahead of them in the race.
