LAGRANGE, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball dropped two USA South Conference matches at LaGrange College on Saturday afternoon. The Scotties fell to conference unbeaten Huntingdon College 3-0 in the first match of the day before rebounding well in their second match. Agnes Scott claimed its first set victory of the season in the second game against LaGrange before the Panthers were able to pull away late for a 3-1 finish.
The Scotties fall to 0-13 on the season. Huntingdon improves to 12-10, while LaGrange moves to 4-14.
Huntingdon 3 – 0 Agnes Scott (25-15, 25-19, 25-14)
The Hawks high-powered attack was in full sync from the get-go and Agnes Scott had few answers on stopping them. Huntingdon piled up 40 kills to only 13 hitting errors for a percentage hovering close to the .300 mark. On the flip side, Agnes Scott's offense was held to only 19 points and a .048 hitting mark.
First-year Alex Roquemore (Dallas, Texas) was the points leader for the Scotties in the first match with 7.5. The middle hitter finished second on the team with five kills, only one behind Tiara White (Sinton, Texas), and came up with 1.5 total blocks. Caroline Irving (Columbus, Ga.) had 15 assists.
Huntingdon was paced by April Reese, who led all players with 13 kills on the offensive end.
LaGrange 3 – Agnes Scott (25-14, 18-25, 25-20, 25-16)
The Scotties shook off a slow start to the match, hitting at a negate rate in the opening set, and played well in the second game.
Agnes Scott had come close at grabbing an overall point several times this season, but had been unable to finish one off to this point. The Scotties finally got over the hump and knotted the match score at one with a complete team effort. Agnes Scott hit a Saturday-high .154 on offense, led by White's improved hitting in the second match of the day.
The Scotties and Panthers played the third set back and forth, but it was the home side that had just enough juice to pull away at the end. Tied 18-18, LaGrange won seven of the final nine points in the game to take an overall match lead.
Agnes Scott was unable to rebound in the fourth set, as LaGrange led comfortably throughout to clinch the match.
LaGrange was led by Jazzlyn Kenner with 10 kills and Kirsten Boyd's 30 assists. They were paced on defense by Bailey Moss, who had a match-high 18 digs.
White rebounded from a negative mark in the match against Huntingdon to post 17 kills at a .176 clip against the Panthers, who were unable to slow down the Scottie junior. Irving aided on many, finishing with 23 assists.
Agnes Scott had a season-high six blocks in the match.

The Scotties are off until next Saturday when they head to Piedmont for matches against the host Lions and Brevard College in USA South competition.
