Scotties Drop Two at Home Tri-Match

DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball dropped a pair of non-conference matches to USA South Conference opponents Pfeiffer and Berea on Saturday afternoon at the Woodruff Gymnasium. Pfeiffer took the neutral site match over Berea in the middle of the schedule.

Match One: Pfeiffer 3 – 0 Agnes Scott

Showing out on its home floor for the first time, Agnes Scott's young squad did its best to keep up with a polished Falcons' side. Pfeiffer's strength across its lineup showed up all afternoon, including in its 3-0 victory over the Mountaineers in its second match.

The Falcons hit at a .369 clip as a team with Alonna Clouse and Reagan Wyatt leading the way. The two outside hitters combined for 24 kills and only two errors to keep the Falcons attack on point against the Scotties.

Agnes Scott was able to put together a little resistance in the second set, but ultimately the Falcons took care of the match 25-7, 25-15, 25-7.

Tiara White (Sinton, Texas) had a team-high five kills and 10 digs, while first-year Caroline Irving (Columbus, Ga.) dished out 13 assists in her home debut.

Match Two: Berea 3 – 0 Agnes Scott

The Mountaineers rebounded from a loss to Pfeiffer with an impressive hitting performance in its own right. Berea finished a three-set win with a 42 kill to nine hitting error ratio, while Agnes Scott finished with just 19 kills from the offense.

Berea was able to put distance between the two sides by the halfway point of each set, keeping the Scotties playing catchup for much of the afternoon. Agnes Scott had moments where they responded in a big way to a string of points dictated by their defensive play, but it was ultimately Berea's edge on offense that determined the final result.

Carolina Robles has a solid night for the Mountaineers with 13 kills on a .429 mark and a team-high 17 digs. Allana Knowles also came up with big points for the Mountaineers, finishing with 12 kills. Adrienne Roberts had 32 assists.

White finished with the most kills for Agnes at seven, but both Alex Roquemore (Dallas, Texas) and Musumaulai Galoia (Hephzibah, Ga.) hit well for the Scotties on the day. The two also combined for two of Agnes' three blocks.

Irving added 15 more assists to the day's total of 28.
