Knights Get Past Scotties in Volleyball Season Debut

MACON, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball dropped its season opener to Middle Georgia State by a score of 3-0 on Friday night August 30. The Knights controlled the match with their depth, beating Agnes 25-16, 25-16, 25-20.

The Scotties knew it would be a tough matchup entering the night with only six players dressed. To its credit, Agnes Scott hung tough with the Knights for much of the match before the veteran lineup of Middle Georgia was able to pull away at the end of each set.

Tiara White (Sinton, Texas) reprised her role on the outside and led the team with nine kills, while first-year Caroline Irving (Columbus, Ga.) impressed in her first collegiate match with 16 digs and 12 assists to pace the squad in each category.

Middle Georgia (1-2) was led by Cara MacFarland, who put up a match-high 11 kills. Raven Dickerson was the main distributor with 11 assists for the Knights.

Agnes Scott (0-1) will have another week of practice to get ready for a non-conference tri-match with USA South Conference members Berea and Pfeiffer on Saturday, September 7.
