Tornados Surge Past Scotties in Three Sets

BREVARD, N.C.—Agnes Scott Volleyball was upended by Brevard on Wednesday evening in three sets. The Scotties had chances to turn the match in the second and third sets, but the Tornados came up with all of the big-moment points to close its out in three.

Brevard improved to 2-20 on the season and 2-11 in USA South action. The Tornados enacted revenge on the Scotties, who dominated the first match between the two programs earlier in October. The Scotties dropped their eighth consecutive match dating back to a pair of wins over Brevard and Berea to start the month. Agnes Scott (4-22, 2-10 USA South) will need to win one of its final two matches to e clinch a postseason berth.

After Brevard pulled away in the first set, Agnes Scott fought back in the second and put themselves in prime position to even the match. Leading 24-20 with four game point chances, Agnes Scott was unable to close out the stanza as Brevard won five straight points to put the match on tilt. The two sides scrambled to cobble together points until the Tornados won the final two of the set at 29-27.

Agnes Scott was forced to play from behind again in the third set, but once again had the fortitude to battle back to knot the game at 20 all. But it was Brevard who found the answers late for the third straight set to close out the Scotties in three games.

Morgan Pearson (Pensacola, Fla.) and Musumaulai Galoia (Hephzibah, Ga.) both had solid nights on offense with nine and six kills respectively. Tiara White (Sinton, Texas) had 22 assists filling in at setter.

The Scotties head up to Berea, Kentucky this weekend with hopes of extending their season into next week.
