Scotties Drop Four in Road Swing

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Agnes Scott College volleyball team returned from a lengthy weekend empty-handed, falling in four different matches in two locations.  On Friday, October 9, the team traveled to Maryville College, falling to Maryville (8-6) and Emory & Henry (9-9) by identical 3-0 scores.  On Sunday, the team returned to the road, heading to Birmingham Southern (17-3), where they fell to Rhodes College (9-12), 3-1, before falling to the hosts, 3-0.

"We have really upped the level of our competition this season," commented head coach Catherine Geerlings, "and we are making improvements each match as we prepare for our transition to the USA South Conference next season."

The Scotties (6-10) received strong performances over the weekend from Anna Tomkins (61 assists, 46 digs, 12 kills), Bonnie Derks (25 digs, 24 kills, 7 blocks) and libero Joanna Ferreira (36 digs, 6 assists).

The Scotties will return to the court on Thursday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. when they face off at home with Piedmont College.  The two faced off earlier in the season at the Huntingdon College Invitational, with the Lions winning, 3-1.
