Earlham Tops Scotties 5-2 in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.—Agnes Scott Women's Tennis saw marked improvement with two wins atop the singles lineup but ultimately suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Earlham College on Wednesday afternoon. The Scotties dip to 0-3 to start the season.

First-year Damira Augustin (Dacula, Ga.) stayed hot atop the lineup with another straight-set victory. Augustin cruised in the first set 6-2 and outlasted Anna Hahn (Fribourg, Switzerland) in the second set 7-5.

Pippin overcame dropping the first set 6-4 to settle the score with a 6-4 win in the second frame. The Scottie sophomore got a jump on Abby Stewart (Richmond, Ind.) in the super tiebreaker and never looked back to clinch it at 10-5.

Augustin and Pippin nearly secured Agnes' third point of the afternoon but fell on the wrong side of a close 8-6 match at first doubles.

The Scotties round out their week with matches against FDU-Florham on Thursday and Arcadia on Friday.
