Scotties Stump Maryville in 9-0 Victory

MARYVILLE, Tenn.—Agnes Scott Tennis shutout its opponent for the second day in a row as the Scotties capped off a successful trip up North with a 9-0 win at Maryville. The Scotties kept pace in the USA South West Division playoff race with the triumph.

Agnes Scott improves to 4-11 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while Maryville drops to 4-10 and 1-5 respectively.

The Scotties started the match with a 2-0 advantage as the Scots only had five players at their disposal. Agnes Scott took care of business at the other spots, 8-5 and 8-4.

After the Scotties took a 4-0 lead with the defaulted win at sixth singles, Taylor Lee (Alpharetta, Ga.) clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top singles flight. Camille Wilson (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Felicia Jacques (Atlanta, Ga.) also dispatched their opponents quickly at fourth and fifth singles respectively before Lizzy Engsberg (Atlanta, Ga.) took a tough straight-set win at two to make it 8-0.

Jasmine Keiler (Newnan, Ga.) outlasted Anastasia Dunn at the third rung in three sets in what amounted to a crazy affaird. Keiler won easily in the first 6-1 only to see Dunn rattled off six straight games in the second set. The Agnes Scott sophomore was able to recover with a 6-3 win in the third to clinch the shutout.

Agnes Scott will host longtime rival Wesleyan on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for the team's Senior Day match.
