Covenant Defends Yard from Scotties 1-0

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.—Covenant's Kyra Duble (Lookout Mountain, Ga.) goal in the 13th minute was all the Scots would need to get by Agnes Scott in a 1-0 result on Saturday at Scotland Yard. The Lady Scots were able to keep the Scottie counter at bay in soggy conditions to send Agnes Scott to its fourth consecutive conference defeat.

Agnes Scott (4-9, 2-4 USA South) rebounded nicely after a sound loss to Maryville last weekend, playing tight defense on a Scots' offense that has found its stride in recent weeks. Victoria Cruz (Duncanville, Texas) was sharp all afternoon for the Scotties, keeping the visitors in the game following an early strike from Duble.

For the Scotties, a scoring drought extended to three games amidst a four-match losing streak. Covenant did its best to limit striker Myah Johnson's (Pepperell, Mass.) opportunities up top and Agnes Scott was unable to deliver the perfect moment for the equalizer in the few looks they had.

Agnes Scott will look to snap out of its scoring funk as it heads into its final two USA South matches next week. The Scotties still have impact games on the schedule with Huntingdon and Berea coming to town to finish out the regular season.

Covenant (7-5-2, 4-1-1 USA South) outshot the Scotties 25-8 in the match, but only 9-3 in attempts on frame. Lucy Sandhoff stopped all three shots necessary.

Cruz ended up with eight saves for the Scotties.
