Maryville Runs Past Scotties in Conference Action

MARYVILLE, Tenn.—Maryville College showed why it is the team to beat in the USA South Conference with an 8-0 blitzing of Agnes Scott on Sunday afternoon. The Scots displayed a dominant blend of speed and finishing ability to send the Scotties to a slanted defeat.

Agnes Scott falls to 4-8 and 2-3 in conference action after a 0-2 road trip this weekend. The Scotties dropped a tough 1-0 game to Brevard on Saturday to begin the trip. Agnes Scott has now dropped three conference matches in a row after a promising 2-0 start to the schedule.

Maryville's Shannon Reagan (Tullahoma, Tenn.) continued her stellar 2019 campaign with a hat-trick. Reagan stretched her lead in conference scoring with her 14th goal of the season in the second half.

The Scots (9-4, 5-0 USA South) scored four goals in each half, while keeping the Scotties' offensive opportunities to a minimum. Maryville finished with a heavy 38-5 advantage in shots attempted for the game, putting 24 of those attempts on frame.

Myah Johnson (Pepperell, Mass.) was the lone threat of putting one home for the Scotties with three shots on the day.

The Scotties will look to avoid a four-game skid when they head to Covenant next Saturday at 2 p.m.
