Maryville Downs Scotties in Conference Action

MARYVILLE, Tenn.—Agnes Scott Soccer concluded a tough doubleheader weekend away with a 5-0 loss to USA South West Division leader Maryville. The Scots scored twice in the first and added a few more goals late to send the Scotties to their second defeat of the weekend.

The Scotties were able to generate some offense through the midfield at times during the game, putting up 10 shots against a stingy Scot defense. However, Maryville had plenty of quality opportunities going the other way and put the Scotties in a 2-0 hole in the first 20 minutes of regulation.

Iara Moran (Marietta, Ga.) made a season-high 16 saves despite suffering the loss in between the pipes.

Maryville's Bailey Sipos scored two of the five goals in the game.

The Scotties will have chances to pull themselves back up in the West table as they face their direct competition for a playoff spot over the next two weeks. Agnes Scott travels down to Wesleyan on Wednesday before returning home for the remainder of the season for three more games.
