DECATUR, Ga.—Junior Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) became the fourth Agnes Scott basketball student-athlete to break 1,000 points for a career in the third quarter of a 60-39 loss to LaGrange on Wednesday evening. Grant's complete effort was a bright spot in a frustrating offensive night for the home side.

At the 6:04 mark in the third, Grant converted on a jumper in the paint for the second consecutive possession to hit 1,000 points exactly. She became the first Scottie to hit the mark since Genefine Sapateh and Arielle Register both accomplished the feat during the 2012-13 seasons. Grant also became the first Scottie to ever reach the milestone during their junior season.

Agnes Scott opened the game on a 7-2 run, with five coming off the hands of Kalin Smith (Kiln, Miss.). However, Riley Chlupacek (Tiger, Ga.) hit a triple in the corner with just under five to go in the first quarter and the Panthers would never trail again.

After Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) hit one of two free throws on the next possession, LaGrange went on a 20-7 run to end the first half to put the Scotties in a big hole.

The Panthers expanded it to as many as 23 in the second half, while keeping the Scotties well below their scoring average for the season.

Grant was the most consistent force for the Scotties with 13 points, nine rebounds, six steals and two blocks on the night. Sweat added 10 off the bench after making three triples in the fourth quarter. Smith scored eight points, all in the first half, while also dropping seven assists.

Chlupacek was the point leader for LaGrange with 12, while Jahpera McEachin (Fife, Wash.) added 10 points. LaGrange outrebounded Agnes Scott 34-30.

Agnes Scott (1-22, 1-13 USA South) will head down to Huntingdon in a week's time on February 6. LaGrange (11-10, 5-7 USA South) will host Berea and Maryville this weekend for a back-to-back.
