DEMOREST, Ga.—Piedmont showed why it sits atop the USA South Conference West Division by beating Agnes Scott 70-40 at Cave Arena on Wednesday January 16, 2019. The Lions and Scotties played to a fair even first quarter, but Piedmont's consistency on offense proved too much for Agnes Scott to keep up with in the 30-point defeat.

Piedmont sweeps the season series with the Scotties after taking a 71-53 game just 10 days ago. The Lions improve to 16-3 on the season and 10-0 in the USA South, while sporting one of the longest active win streaks in Division III at 10 games. Agnes Scott falls for the third game in a row and is now 1-18 and 1-9 respectively.

Amari Price (Hiram, Ga.) was a one-woman wrecking crew, finishing the evening with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and two steals. Jatasia Bailey (Gainesville, Ga.) also had a nice night for the Lions with 14 points in 24 minutes of action. All 11 Lions who entered the game scored at least a point.

Agnes Scott was led by junior Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) who put up 11 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and a steal. Kalin Smith (Kiln, Miss.) chipped in 10 points, while Emma Olson (Austin, Texas) had eight points and nine rebounds.

The Lions scored 19 in each of the first three quarters before playing more of a constant rotation in the fourth. Agnes Scott countered with a solid 13-point first quarter to keep it close after 10 minutes, but the Scotties could only muster 10 points or fewer in each of the final three quarters while shooting it under 25 percent.

Agnes Scott's schedule against the top of the West Division table continues this weekend with trips to Maryville and Berea.
