Hawks Top Scotties 70-46

DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Women's Basketball fell at the hands of visiting Huntingdon on Sunday afternoon, 70-46. The Hawks shot over 50-percent from deep in the first half to take a commanding 42-24 halftime lead before settling in to take the game outright.

Huntingdon improves to 12-4 overall and 6-3 in the USA South. Agnes Scott drops to 1-17 and 1-8 in conference.

The Hawks displayed the same type of three-point streakiness that Covenant did against the Scotties on Saturday. Huntingdon raced out to a 13-1 lead thanks to the outside shooting from Alex Lowery (Birmingham, Ala.), who finished 5-7 from deep with a game-high 18 points.

Agnes Scott used a run at the start of the second quarter to close the gap to 21-14 only to see another barrage of deep balls from the Hawks.

Each run the Scotties had was rebuffed in the second half and foul trouble limited the Agnes rotation early on in the third period. Huntingdon was eventually able to stretch its lead to an insurmountable one entering the fourth to top the Scotties.

T.I. Duncan (Talladega, Ala.) was the second-highest scorer for the Hawks with 11 points, four assists, and four steals. She was also active on the offensive glass with three boards to help the Hawks to 12 second-chance points.

Emma Olson (Austin, Texas) improved on her career high for the second time in three games, tying Lowery with 18 points for the game lead. The first-year showed some slippery moves in the post, while also shooting at a high clip—8-for-10—to pace the Scottie offense. Kalin Smith (Kiln, Miss.) also finished in double-figures with 11 points and two assists. Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) finished a point and a rebound short of a double-double despite fouling out in only 19 minutes of action.

The Scotties head on a four-game road trip beginning on Wednesday at division-leading Piedmont for a 6 p.m. tip.
