Fleming Double-Double Leads Scotties To OT Win, 71-66

MACON, Ga. - In a tightly contested battle with conference foe, Welseyan College, a string of solid performances by the Agnes Scott College basketball team paved the way to a 71-66 overtime win over the Wolves (2-12, 0-1 Great South Athletic Conference).  First-year Jakaria Fleming had her strongest performance of the season for the Scotties (3-13, 1-1 GSAC), who won their second consecutive game.  

Fleming, who had been averaging 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds, had season-highs in both, dropping in 20 points and having an amazing 11 rebounds.  Fleming, who stands at 5'3", used her quickness to hustle for several rebounds, including 7 on the offensive end, which led to several second-chance baskets.  

The game also saw strong performances from a few other Scotties.  Laniqua Collins had another strong game, contributing 16 points and 19 rebounds before fouling out of the game with 3:18 to go in regulation.  Not to be outdone, junior Brittaney Howard also chipped in with a double-double, with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Five of her points came in the crucial overtime period, which the Scotties led from start to finish.

The Scotties will look to continue their current winning ways when they head to Covenant College on Tuesday, February 2.
