BC Storms Past Agnes Scott for Third-Straight Victory

DECATUR, Ga. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (4-5, 4-5 USAS) rattled off its fourth-straight victory on Tuesday evening, defeating the Agnes Scott College Scotties (0-13, 0-13 USAS) by a final of 74-36 in BC's regular season road finale.

Destiny Williams led four double-digit scoring outputs for the Tornados, as the senior studded the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, a game-high five steals, and three assists. Williams scored at a highly-efficient clip, knocking down 7-of-10 from the field in the contest. 

Fellow senior forward Deja Riddick added 12 points and five boards, while Makenna Parkins set a new career-high, pouring in 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench. Senior guard Shakirah Thompson added 10 points, while freshman guard Kaitlyn Light dished out a game-best five assists. 

The Scotties were led by Shay Sweat's 15-point performance, while Musumaulai Galoia hauled down a game-high 14 rebounds. 

The Tornados outshot Agnes Scott, 42.9% to 22.9% from the field, while draining eight long-distance buckets. Ball movement and defense were critical to BC's success, as the Tornados dished out 19 assists while forcing 31 Agnes Scott turnovers, which it turned into 25 points on the other end. BC controlled the paint with 32 points, while the Tornado bench contributed 28 points to BC's efforts. 

In what was a tight, low-scoring affair in the first quarter of action, the Tornados edged Agnes Scott out to take a slim lead, 13-12, into the second stanza. BC jumped out to a sizable 16-4 run that propelled itself forward, as the Tornados outscored the Scotties 23-9 to take a 36-21 lead into the locker room. Williams led all scorers with 11 points at the break. 

The Tornados extended their lead to as many as 21 points in the third quarter, maintaining an 18-point cushion as the game entered the fourth period of play. 

Brevard ended the contest on fire, outscoring the Scotties 24-4 in the game's final stanza. BC shot 10-of-15 from the field, while forcing 10 Agnes Scott turnovers in the final 10 minutes of action.

BC returns home this weekend for its final USA South Conference doubleheader of the season. The Tornados play host to Huntingdon College on Friday at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday at 2 p.m. 

Prior to the beginning of Friday's contest, the Tornados will honor their six seniors in a special ceremony at The Bosh. BC seniors Victoria Green, Meiya Mills, Bailey Ray, Deja Riddick, Shakirah Thompson, and Destiny Williams will be honored at 6:45 p.m. - 15 minutes prior to the start of play on Friday evening.
